A website everyone can use

We want ordering a bowl, finding our hours or joining Lulu Rewards to be easy for everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification or voice control.

Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA across lulu-daes.com. We test the site with automated accessibility checks and by keyboard alone, and we fix what we find.

What we’ve done

A “Skip to content” link and a clear, visible focus outline on everything you can tab to.
Text and buttons checked against WCAG color contrast requirements.
A logical heading structure and labelled page regions, so screen readers can jump around.
Text descriptions on every meaningful image.
The full menu, with every item and price, written out as text on our menu page, not only as a picture.
Labels on every form field, and error messages that are read out when they appear.
A pause button on background videos, and no motion at all if your device is set to reduce motion.
The Lulu Rewards pop-up can be closed with the Escape key, and focus stays inside it while it is open.
Links that open a new tab tell screen readers that they do.
Pages that reflow for phones and zoom up to 400% without sideways scrolling.

Known limitations

Printed menu PDFs. The two PDF menus are copies of the printed menu and may not work well with screen readers. Everything in them is on our menu page as text.
Online ordering and Lulu Rewards sign-up run on SpotOn’s pages, which we don’t control. If anything there gets in your way, call us at (415) 384-8201 and we’ll take your order or sign you up by phone.
Links to other websites, such as Google Maps, Instagram and event organizers, may not meet the same standard.

In the shop

Ask anyone behind the counter and we’ll read you the menu and talk you through what goes into each bowl. Strawberry Village has free parking. If something about visiting us makes it harder for you, we want to know.

Tell us what isn’t working

If any part of this site is hard to use, please tell us. Say which page and what happened, and we’ll fix it and get you what you needed in the meantime. We aim to reply within two business days.
